The last Minx manicure that appeared on this blog was #6 in April. I did have a manicure in May that was technically #7 but it wasn’t suitable for a photograph because it started peeling the day I got it. The person who applied it did a bad job. I asked the Minx peeps what was up and it turned out the place I was going to refused to be trained by the Minx experts. I got turned off for a while because of the bad application. But I had a big event this week, so I was determined to get Minxed again. I contacted the Minx peeps for a referral and they sent me to the awesome Tracylee Percival.

I picked the new matte gold Minx because most of my jewelry designs are in matte 18K gold. I usually insist that manicurists just push my cuticles back, but sometimes I agree to get a hangnail cut and they use that as an excuse to go wild. If someone attacks my cuticles, the skin on my fingers peels within a couple of days. It’s quite disgusting. Tracylee explained that there are two layers to the cuticle and only the bottom layer should be removed. It was totally painless when she did it and it looked great. Her instruments and workspace were immaculate too. Tracylee occasionally works out of a studio in New York, where I was lucky enough to catch up with her. If you see her there, you can get a Minx for $60. (You can also get any other kind of manicure and/or pedicure.) She also does local house calls, which are more expensive. You can get in touch with her by emailing tracypercival at gmail dot com.
