It’s been two years since my last red lipstick post<\/a>. I’m still devoted to MAC\u2019s Pro Longwear Lipcolor in Lasting Lust<\/a>. I rarely want to wear another red because I love Lasting Lust’s color and the endurance so much. For me, the product works just like MAC’s website promises<\/a>: it is smudge-, run-, transfer- and feather-proof. I’ve fallen asleep with it on and woken up the next day with the color untouched. It only comes off with an oily makeup remover and, occasionally, oily salad dressing.<\/p>\n

Pro Longwear Lipcolor is a two-step process<\/a>. First, you apply the color, which goes on like a gloss but looks matte. It feels very, very dry. Then, you flip the tube around and apply the clear gloss, which makes your lips happy again.<\/p>\n

When I saw that MAC came out with a new product called Pro Longwear Lipcreme — which promises 12 hours of wear with a one-step application, and comes in a purple color called Goes and Goes — I had to try it. I’ve been looking for my perfect <\/a>purple lipstick<\/a> for months. Just in case Goes and Goes was a bust, I also ordered a red called Prolong. Red always works for me. Here’s a picture of Prolong.<\/p>\n

I love the color, but the lipstick did feel dry, and there was no gloss to alleviate that. (A reviewer of another Longwear Lipcreme color on Makeupalley<\/a> suggested using Lipcote<\/a>, but if I am back up to two steps, I’d rather have the all-in-one convenience of the Longwear Lipcolor tube.) There was also some transfer onto my glass at dinner that night. It was minor, but I am not used to leaving any lipstick prints on glasses, people’s cheeks, or elsewhere, thanks to Lasting Lust. I accidentally brushed my Xenobia ring<\/a> against my lips and there was transfer onto the turquoise, though that was easily cleaned off. Still, the photo above was taken after dinner, which included a salad with oil and vinegar dressing, and I hadn’t touched up the lipstick. That’s good endurance.<\/p>\n

I’m experimenting with Goes and Goes<\/a>. When I tried it on, I was so bothered by the dryness that I layered other, less-drying purples over it. That combination transferred onto everything, so I have to give Goes and Goes a solo test.<\/p>\n

Would I recommend Prolong? Yes, if you don’t have as much success with Lasting Lust as I do and don’t mind the dryness. Prolong won’t lure me away from Lasting Lust on a regular basis, but I’ll wear it occasionally. I would be more likely to buy this line for a great non-red color. I have high hopes for Goes and Goes.<\/p>\n

More importantly, don’t you think MAC should name a shade of red Pro Longwear Lipcolor after me? I’m such a passionate spokeswoman for the product. Wouldn’t you buy a “WendyB” red?<\/p>\n
