The dresses are one-of-a-kind, but they are not purely vintage and not truly couture. For that concept, the prices are too steep for me. The Guy Laroche pictured is nearly $4,000. Even though it is unique and very beautiful, I’d rather pay less for an unaltered LaRoche, as I have done. However, if you’re the type of high-profile person who attends a lot of glamorous events, and you would normally borrow a current-season runway dress, I’d say paying the big bucks for E2 is a much better option. No risk of falling into the “Who wore it better” column, or being misled by a designer into thinking your borrowed dress is making its first appearance when it isn’t. Sarah Jessica Parker, if you’re interested in E2, just make sure that none of THEIR dresses have gone out as loaners. That happened to me once. I bought a vintage dress for a big event after I was assured it hadn’t been worn before and it had indeed gone out as a loaner. Oh, and it IS annoying when someone does that and it’s NOT good business to mislead your customers and I DON’T believe Olivier Theyskens or anyone else “just forgot.” So there.

UPDATED TO ADD: Click here to check out a tribute to Yves Saint Laurent by my gorgeous friend Cheryl Tan.

UPDATED AGAIN TO ADD: There’s an interview with E2 here.
