{"id":5102,"date":"2010-04-12T15:55:21","date_gmt":"2010-04-12T19:55:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wendybrandes.com\/blog\/?p=5102"},"modified":"2010-10-11T02:18:06","modified_gmt":"2010-10-11T06:18:06","slug":"congrats-to-mrb-and-propublica-on-the-pulitzer-prize","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wendybrandes.com\/blog\/2010\/04\/congrats-to-mrb-and-propublica-on-the-pulitzer-prize\/","title":{"rendered":"Congrats to MrB and ProPublica on the Pulitzer Prize"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m thrilled to tell you that ProPublica, the independent, non-profit newsroom run by my gorgeous husband, MrB (Paul Steiger), has won its first <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pulitzer.org\/awards\/2010\" target=\"_blank\">Pulitzer Prize<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p>The prize-winning story, a collaboration with the New York Times, was a report by ProPublica&#8217;s Sheri Fink about a hospital in New Orleans where a doctor and two nurses were accused of hastening patients&#8217; deaths with lethal doses of medication in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.<\/p>\n<p>The story was originally published in the New York Times Magazine last August. Read it <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2009\/08\/30\/magazine\/30doctors.html\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>. ProPublica <a href=\"http:\/\/www.propublica.org\/series\/deadly-choices\" target=\"_blank\">continues to follow the story on its website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This is the 17th Pulitzer Prize won by a news organization under MrB&#8217;s leadership.
