Well, this year’s Oscars were kind of … a lot<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Early on, I was checking out the red-carpet fashion and wondering if I even had the energy to bestow my prestigious Best Dressed\/Wear What You Want<\/a> combo award this year. On one hand, we had Megan Thee Stallion looking like a goddess<\/a>. On the other hand, I haven’t blogged in more than a month because I’ve been so distracted with Ukraine-related activism<\/a>, and I haven’t been sure how to jump back in. Then came the slap seen around the world<\/a>, and I thought “I give up on these Oscars.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But, finally, we heard Lady Gaga telling a very fragile Liza Minnelli, “I’ve got you” … and I decided that was a moment of true style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ve always said that my Best Dressed\/Wear What You Want awards are more about being memorable than being beautiful, and I’ll definitely remember this interaction between Gaga and Liza for a long time. Gaga’s thoughtfulness extended into her wardrobe, because her tux let attention fall on LIza and her stylish DayGlo<\/a> pink sleeves — whereas a typical Gaga outfit would have overwhelmed the guest of honor, in what might be one of the latter’s last public appearances. Gaga and Liza are my 2022 winners. I choose love!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
