Merry Christmas from me … and the activist organizations Truth Tuesdays<\/a> and Rise and Resist<\/a>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our group Christmas photo was taken on December 7 in the public plaza in front of Fox News, where I’ve taken part in a powerful “Fox Lies, Democracy Dies” protest every Tuesday since August<\/a>,. Truth Tuesdays isn’t taking a break for the holidays, so if you’re off from work or vacationing in NYC this coming Tuesday, you can join us or at least stop by for a selfie. We’ll have our banners<\/a>, signs, chants, fliers, and cowbells. All you have to bring is yourself!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The day after we took our holiday picture, the tree was set ablaze by a troubled homeless man. (Note: Rise and Resist and Truth Tuesdays are committed to sustained non-violent<\/em> direct action against Fox’s extremist propaganda. We say the true violence is that which is perpetrated by the right-wing billionaires who are subverting democracy.) The Fox folks were mighty upset about their tree. As the Daily Show said, Fox covered its Christmas tree flare-up like it was the network’s own 9\/11<\/a> or, rather, PINE-Eleven<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Rise and Resist found out Fox planned to make a big event of unveiling a replacement tree on Thursday, December 9, a small group of us hustled to the public plaza to take part in our own way. During our regular protests there, we get a largely positive response from passersby. The crowd that came to worship the new tree like it was a golden calf was less appreciative of the “White Supremacy Is Terrorism” banner<\/a>. I’m proud to say that, though we protestors were few in number, we were loud! Mediaite reported that you could nearly hear us (aka “the hecklers”) from the stage, where one speaker, in all seriousness, compared the tree fire to Pearl Harbor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the story, Mediaite reported that “Tucker Carlson, host of the most-watched show on Fox, had declared the random tree-torching a ‘hate crime’ and an ‘attack on Christianity.'” Interesting. I can’t imagine that he’d use those words about, say, a KKK cross-burning<\/a>. Even Orwell would be impressed by this level of doublethink. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyway, because Fox updated its tree, Truth Tuesdays updated its holiday card. Treason’s Greetings from your anti-propaganda, pro-democracy activist friends!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
