While I&#8217;m normally obsessed with ancient artifacts, my favorite charms are of more recent vintage &#8212; generally the 20th century, when a lot of clever mechanical pieces were produced. I love designing mechanical jewelry myself, and<a href=\"ttps:\/\/www.wendybrandes.com\/blog\/2012\/06\/jewels-of-the-month-sulky-and-idgaf-necklaces\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> I was once inspired by an old charm, though I put my own twist on the concept<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>My chicken-in-egg locket, however, was <em>not<\/em> created because of this adorable Easter egg charm, which was posted on Instagram this week by the Eden Collective ahead of today&#8217;s holiday<\/p>\n<p><center><div id=\"attachment_42341\" style=\"width: 508px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/BwcguDJHyc_\/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&amp;igshid=t29syrjljks9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-42341\" class=\"wp-image-42341 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wendybrandes.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/vintagecharm.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"498\" height=\"481\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wendybrandes.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/vintagecharm.jpg 498w, https:\/\/www.wendybrandes.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/vintagecharm-300x290.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 498px) 100vw, 498px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-42341\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Click for source.<\/p><\/div><\/center><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wendybrandes.com\/blog\/2016\/03\/the-best-easter-egg-evah-plus-the-week-in-review\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The egg-locket necklace I introduced 10 years ago<\/a> (dang! time flies!) was created because <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wendybrandes.com\/blog\/2009\/11\/jewel-of-the-month-the-hen-in-the-egg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">I coveted an 18th-century <em>objet d&#8217;art<\/em> I saw in Denmark&#8217;s royal treasure<\/a>. The original can be <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kongernessamling.dk\/en\/amalienborg\/object\/golden-egg-with-hen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">separated into an ivory eggshell, a gold eggshell, hen, crown, and ring \u2026 and there\u2019s also a yolk<\/a>. I couldn&#8217;t squeeze hat many treats into my mini version, but I think I did pretty well.
