Some historians believe that Hatshepsut served as co-regent with her husband&#8217;s son, but others are convinced that Hatshepsut was recognized as the ruler in her own right, in part because she had herself depicted with all the traditional regalia of Pharaoh, including a false beard. <\/p>\n<p><center><div id=\"attachment_40225\" style=\"width: 508px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-40225\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wendybrandes.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/metropolitan-museum-art-hatshe.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"498\" height=\"313\" class=\"size-full wp-image-40225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wendybrandes.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/metropolitan-museum-art-hatshe.jpg 498w, https:\/\/www.wendybrandes.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/metropolitan-museum-art-hatshe-300x189.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 498px) 100vw, 498px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-40225\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">From the Metropolitan Museum of Art.<\/p><\/div><\/center><\/p>\n<p>To be honest, I don&#8217;t go to the museum as often as I should because every time I go, I wind up doing at least one major jewelry design. This locket in particular blows people&#8217;s minds because what looks like a big, bold, but uncomplicated pendant actually unscrews and then slides open.
