If you missed my earlier posts, catch up on them now.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wendybrandes.com\/blog\/2018\/03\/my-oscar-gown-archives-part-i\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-slimstat=\"5\">Part I: 2003 &#8211; 2005 in vintage, plus a compliment from Renee Zellweger<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wendybrandes.com\/blog\/2018\/03\/my-oscar-gown-archives-part-ii\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-slimstat=\"5\">Part II: 2006 &#8211; 2009, with a cameo from George Clooney and all kinds of butt adornments<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wendybrandes.com\/blog\/2018\/03\/my-oscar-archives-part-iii\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Part III: 2010 &#8211; 2014. I thought that baggie was a tampon, honest to God!<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On several occasions, I&#8217;ve worn a black-tie outfit to the Committee to Protect Journalists&#8217; annual dinner in November and then worn the same ensemble to the Vanity Fair Oscar party in February\/March. First of all, I got the Donald Brooks Couture dress on eBay in 2003\/2004 for $60. Second, the dress has pockets. You can see from the look on my face that I&#8217;m totally feeling myself!<\/p>\n<p>Finally, last year I had the urge to wear something a little crazy. I&#8217;ve worn my vintage dollar dress other times, but I wasn&#8217;t sure if I would have the nerve to wear it to a heavily fashion-police-supervised event. I brought along a backup &#8212; I think it was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wendybrandes.com\/blog\/2011\/11\/photo-by-bill-cunningham-of-the-new-york-times\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">this vintage gown<\/a>. I don&#8217;t know if we&#8217;ll ever be lucky enough to go a major Oscar event again &#8212; at least not till the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wendybrandes.com\/blog\/2017\/05\/the-empires-ghost-by-isabelle-steiger\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">movie version of my stepdaughter&#8217;s book wins for best adapted screenplay<\/a> &#8212; but we&#8217;ve been 13 times and we can&#8217;t end on that number, right?
