{"id":38934,"date":"2018-01-30T23:57:14","date_gmt":"2018-01-31T04:57:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wendybrandes.com\/blog\/?p=38934"},"modified":"2018-01-31T00:44:21","modified_gmt":"2018-01-31T05:44:21","slug":"my-best-dressed-at-the-2018-grammys-is","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wendybrandes.com\/blog\/2018\/01\/my-best-dressed-at-the-2018-grammys-is\/","title":{"rendered":"My Best Dressed at the 2018 Grammys Is &#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While there were many <a href=\"http:\/\/wendybrandes.com\/blog\/2018\/01\/my-almost-best-dressed-at-the-2018-grammys-are\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">2018 Grammys fashion statements worthy of honorable mentions<\/a>, there was one clear winner of my <a href=\"http:\/\/wendybrandes.com\/blog\/category\/best-dressed-wear-what-you-want-award\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">prestigious Best Dressed\/Wear What You Want combo award<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>That winner is not <a href=\"http:\/\/wendybrandes.com\/blog\/2016\/03\/musical-interlude-andra-day-and-rihanna\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Andra Day<\/a>, but she came so close in her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.redcarpet-fashionawards.com\/2018\/01\/29\/andra-day-victoria-hayes-2018-grammy-awards\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">candy-colored, custom-made Victoria Hayes tuxedo gown<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p><center><a id='-nbKSy7zSPtibDch_LYfgw' class='gie-single' href='http:\/\/www.gettyimages.com\/detail\/911922722' target='_blank' style='color:#a7a7a7;text-decoration:none;font-weight:normal !important;border:none;display:inline-block;'>Embed from Getty Images<\/a><script>window.gie=window.gie||function(c){(gie.q=gie.q||[]).push(c)};gie(function(){gie.widgets.load({id:'-nbKSy7zSPtibDch_LYfgw',sig:'taCtch6OgSOMQOeEyuw-7D3MpZZmXuJt1mgHoOsFvs4=',w:'351px',h:'594px',items:'911922722',caption: true ,tld:'com',is360: false })});<\/script><script src='\/\/embed-cdn.gettyimages.com\/widgets.js' charset='utf-8' async><\/script><\/center><\/p>\n<p>This dress was my personal favorite of the evening, and I haven&#8217;t been able to stop thinking about it in an extremely covetous way. First of all, it reminds me of a dressy black suit with red satin lapels that I had in the early 1990s. More importantly, it meets every requirement of a Best Dressed\/Wear What You Want winner. It was completely different from anything else on the red carpet that night, so much so that it was visually jarring. But take another look and see how well it fits Andra, how the colors pop, how it bares the right amount of skin, and how natural it is on her. I&#8217;m all about a beautiful shock when it comes to fashion. My own favorite clothes are always the ones that are a little challenging &#8212; the ones where on first sight I thought, &#8220;Is it ugly? Because Lady Gaga did her best possible version of a Lady Gaga look. She was back in custom <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teenvogue.com\/story\/lady-gaga-grammys-2018-armani-prive-times-up-pin-snake-ring\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Armani Priv\u00e9<\/a>, the source of some of her most memorable award-show styles, including the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.popsugar.com\/fashion\/Lady-Gaga-Armani-Prive-2010-Grammy-Awards-Fashion-Red-Carpet-Celeb-Style-2010-Grammy-Grammy-Awards-Fashion-7249135\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">galactic dress she wore to the 2010 Grammys<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This year, her huge skirt <a href=\"http:\/\/wendybrandes.com\/blog\/2018\/01\/my-almost-best-dressed-at-the-2018-grammys-are\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">hit the trend for voluminous clothes that I mentioned in my last sang <a href=\"http:\/\/www.harpersbazaar.com\/culture\/art-books-music\/a15908287\/lady-gaga-grammys-performance-2018\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Joanne&#8221; and &#8220;A Million Reasons.&#8221;<\/a>  At the end of the songs, she made the angelic connection official by leaning backwards into the wings.<\/p>\n<p><center><a id='0n5pevrBSJl8LjenEL3Mpg' class='gie-single'
