A couple of weeks ago, jewelry expert Jennifer Heebner<\/a> quoted me in her “Reigniting Diamond Desire” story in GemGuide<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The article looks at how women are the majority of jewelry wearers and drive 90% of worldwide jewelry sales. Jennifer pointed out that 31% of U.S. diamond jewelry sales in 2016 were women purchasing for themselves. Meanwhile, the industry has been talking about the female consumer since 2005 (coincidentally, the year I went into business), but not necessarily doing much to reach out to her. Obviously, some jewelers — like me — reach out to women via social media. Jennifer quoted me about that:<\/p>\n

She also spoke to Myriam Gumuchian, whose family has been in the jewelry business since 1978. The Gumuchians work through retailers, who prefer the jewelry brand to stay “under the radar,” as Jennifer put it. But I thought Myriam made an interesting remark about answering customer questions on social media. As she points out, retailers who don’t react quickly to online queries can lose a sale for both the store and the brand.<\/p>\n
