That&#8217;s why I prefer to use only the hardest gems in engagement rings. Diamonds, for instance, rate a perfect 10 on the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mohs_scale_of_mineral_hardness\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mohs hardness scale<\/a>, while rubies and sapphires (aka <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Corundum\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">corundum<\/a>) come in at 9.<\/p>\n<p>In this week&#8217;s YouTube video, I talk more about the practicality of using a hard gem in an engagement ring; how to source conflict-free diamonds; the way you can drive yourself crazy overthinking the history of antique gems; and more!
