Last August, I shot a video for Platinum Guild International <\/a>about platinum jewelry<\/a>, and the video recently went up on PGI’s site.<\/p>\n

Before I get to the video, some background: In the 1990s, I worked at CNN business news<\/a> as a producer. In that role, I occasionally had to shoot those scene-setting B-roll<\/a> moments that provide extra visuals for\u00a0 interviews — the stock analyst striding purposefully down the hallway, or the serious-faced bond trader picking up the phone for a fake call. I would think, “I feel awkward just watching this. Thank goodness I don’t have to do it myself.” Needless to say, I never sought a tryout as an on-air reporter.<\/p>\n

Well, a lot has changed for me since the ’90s, but not my discomfort with being in front of a camera. Click the screenshot of me striking my one pose<\/a> next to the West Side Highway to enjoy, among other things, the sight of me walking along said highway, looking totally natural and not self-conscious at all.<\/p>\n

No shade <\/a>being thrown at PGI’s crew here!\u00a0 They were gracious and professional and did everything they could to make me seem normal. I also appreciate PGI for choosing me for an interview because I love talking about the way I use platinum<\/a>.<\/p>\n

My feelings about being filmed have been on my mind lately because my right-hand woman Eryn and I spent a day shooting video for my new YouTube channel<\/a>. It was one Cindy Brady stage-fright moment after another for me.<\/p>\n

Eryn encouraged me with comments like, “I can edit this” and “You’ll get more comfortable with practice.” Hmm. Let’s hope she’s right! I do have fashion-related topics to talk about that are best shared on video, so I’ll try to power through.\u00a0 We’ll start posting the videos next week:\u00a0 Subscribe <\/a>to see jewelry, vintage clothes, and my excellent impression of a deer in the headlines.
