I hadn’t visited Decades in Los Angeles<\/a> — aka vintage-gown heaven<\/a> — in forever, and I rectified that yesterday. I emailed fabulous sales associate Helena before I went in and told her I only wanted to see over-the-top designs. I believe this one was by Oscar de la Renta. I tried on a lot of Oscars on this Oscar weekend.<\/p>\n

That mannequin has no head, but I still feel like she’s judging me.<\/p><\/div>\n

Wearing this Halston made me feel like my Halston-loving<\/a> doppelg\u00e4nger<\/a> Liza Minnelli.<\/p>\n

Studio 54, here I come.<\/p><\/div>\n

I think this is another Oscar de la Renta.<\/p>\n

I used to hate poofy skirts. Now I love them.<\/p><\/div>\n

I know for sure this one is an Oscar. Look at the colors!<\/p>\n

No basic black here.<\/p><\/div>\n

I tried on several other dresses that I forgot to photograph. That was because I was tipsy from too many glasses of ros\u00e9<\/span> after a celebratory lunch for author (and former Wall Street Journal) writer Ron Suskind. Ron wrote Life, Animated<\/em> <\/a>about how his autistic son, Owen, re-learned to speak by memorizing Disney movies. The book became a documentary<\/a> that is nominated for an Oscar tonight<\/a>. The documentary category is stuffed with superb nominees this year, but, no matter what, Ron and his lovely wife Cornelia got a pair of Oscars at lunch.<\/p>\n

Good luck, guys!<\/p><\/div>\n

By the way, I may have bought one of those Decades dresses in my semi-drunken state, but you’ll have to wait and see!<\/p>\n
