{"id":32099,"date":"2016-03-03T23:55:32","date_gmt":"2016-03-04T04:55:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wendybrandes.com\/blog\/?p=32099"},"modified":"2017-01-29T22:26:02","modified_gmt":"2017-01-30T03:26:02","slug":"oscars-2016-my-best-dressed-runners-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wendybrandes.com\/blog\/2016\/03\/oscars-2016-my-best-dressed-runners-up\/","title":{"rendered":"Oscars 2016: My Best Dressed Runners-Up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Before I chose <a href=\"http:\/\/wendybrandes.com\/blog\/2016\/03\/my-best-dressed-at-the-2016-oscars-is\/\" target=\"_blank\">costume designer Sandy Powell as the recipient of my prestigious Best Dressed\/Wear What You Want combo award<\/a> for the 2016 Oscars, these ladies and gents were contenders.<\/p>\n<p>Alicia Vikander, who won the Oscar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role, wowed me with her dusty yellow Louis Vuitton mullet dress. (<a href=\"http:\/\/wendybrandes.com\/blog\/2016\/02\/my-best-dressed-at-the-2016-sag-awards-is\/\" target=\"_blank\">Vuitton also did right by Alicia for the SAG Awards<\/a>.) I always love a <a href=\"http:\/\/wendybrandes.com\/blog\/category\/mullets\/\" target=\"_blank\">mullet<\/a>, and the bubble hemline made this one special. The fitted sheets were &#8220;far more glamorous and show-stopping&#8221; than flat sheets. After I read his post, I had to agree. The celebrity\u00a0dress DOES look like a fitted sheet &#8230; but that isn&#8217;t a bad thing to me. Gaga wouldn&#8217;t be Gaga without fashion statements like the meat dress!<\/p>\n<p>Cate Blanchett&#8217;s seafoam-colored gown by Armani Prive reminded me of my designing friend Zang Toi&#8217;s work.
