{"id":30733,"date":"2015-10-21T00:02:14","date_gmt":"2015-10-21T04:02:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wendybrandes.com\/blog\/?p=30733"},"modified":"2015-10-21T00:02:14","modified_gmt":"2015-10-21T04:02:14","slug":"thinking-of-blazing-saddles-at-bergdorf-goodman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wendybrandes.com\/blog\/2015\/10\/thinking-of-blazing-saddles-at-bergdorf-goodman\/","title":{"rendered":"Thinking of Blazing Saddles at Bergdorf Goodman"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I visited a friend who works at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bergdorfgoodman.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bergdorf Goodman<\/a> (one of my favorite stores!) and had some time to kill while she finished up a dress fitting.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ilovelibertine.com\/about.php\" target=\"_blank\">Libertine<\/a> designer Johnson Hartig had been in the store last week for a trunk show and the clothes were still there.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve always been interested in the line, which updates vintage clothes with crystals, studs, and silk-screened skulls and words. A lot of the pieces are one of a kind. This is the first time I ever tried anything on. If I recall correctly, this pink jacket with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oxforddictionaries.com\/us\/definition\/american_english\/bracelet-sleeve\" target=\"_blank\">bracelet sleeves<\/a> was by <a href=\"http:\/\/vintagefashionguild.org\/label-resource\/lilli-ann\/\" target=\"_blank\">Lilli Ann<\/a>, with embellishments added by Hartig. As you can see, I felt really good on it!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-30734\" src=\"http:\/\/wendybrandes.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/libertine.jpg\" alt=\"libertine\" width=\"484\" height=\"646\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wendybrandes.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/libertine.jpg 484w, https:\/\/www.wendybrandes.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/libertine-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.wendybrandes.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/libertine-300x400.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 484px) 100vw, 484px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It certainly jazzed up that black J. Crew sweater I was wearing.<\/p>\n<p>I also liked this Dolce &amp; Gabbana dress with a single rose on it, though I was too lazy to try it on.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-30735\" src=\"http:\/\/wendybrandes.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/rose.jpg\" alt=\"rose\" width=\"484\" height=\"646\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wendybrandes.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/rose.jpg 484w, https:\/\/www.wendybrandes.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/rose-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.wendybrandes.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/rose-300x400.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 484px) 100vw, 484px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The dress made me think of a line delivered by <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Madeline_Kahn\" target=\"_blank\">Madeline Kahn<\/a> as the Marlene Dietrich-like Lili Von Shtupp in the Mel Brooks movie <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0071230\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Blazing Saddles<\/em><\/a>: &#8220;A wed wose! How womantic.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>That quote probably leapt to mind because earlier in the day, I felt so tired that I told someone that I was &#8220;tired like Madeline Kahn in <em>Blazing Saddles<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Uai7M4RpoLU\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/center><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s <em>tired<\/em>! <\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I visited a friend who works at Bergdorf Goodman (one of my favorite stores!) and had some time to kill while she finished up a dress fitting.
