That&#8217;s what I did when I visited South Africa&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thornybush.co.za\/\" target=\"_blank\">Thornybush Game Lodge <\/a>in 2013. It is NOT Cecil of Zimbabwe.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>This dude&#8217;s hair was so <a href=\"http:\/\/www.urbandictionary.com\/define.php?term=on+fleek\" target=\"_blank\">on fleek<\/a>. I mean, he was on fleek a full year before the term &#8220;on fleek&#8221; was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bustle.com\/articles\/55940-what-does-on-fleek-mean-a-brief-timeline-of-the-phrase-that-no-one-really-understands\" target=\"_blank\">popularized by Peaches Monroee<\/a>. This lion saw me looking at him, so he turned his head so I could get his good side. (<a href=\"http:\/\/wendybrandes.com\/blog\/2007\/11\/six-facts-about-me-requested-by-lady-n\/\" target=\"_blank\">Except the Singapore Zoo because of the awesomely delinquent tapirs there<\/a>.) It definitely didn&#8217;t occur to me to shoot any one of these creatures with a bow and arrow or a bullet in order to hang its head in my living room. I do eat meat and wear leather, so it&#8217;s not like I can (a) complain about people hunting for food\/clothing or (b) <a href=\"http:\/\/wendybrandes.com\/blog\/2011\/05\/my-almost-husband-paul-mccartney-to-wed-nancy-shevell\/\" target=\"_blank\">marry Paul McCartney<\/a>.\u00a0 But killing an animal for the bragging rights and a stuffed head? The crazy thing is that when I created this piece in 2013, I thought lion hunting was a thing of the past &#8212; a hobby for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eyewitnesstohistory.com\/tr.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Teddy Roosevelt<\/a>, not for random guys from Minnesota.
