Damn, I can&#8217;t even remember any names.\u00a0 The romantic feelings that last are your first <a href=\"http:\/\/wendybrandes.com\/blog\/2013\/06\/it-was-26-years-ago-today\/\" target=\"_blank\">music <\/a>and<a href=\"http:\/\/wendybrandes.com\/blog\/2013\/09\/browsing-vintage-stephen-sprouse\/\" target=\"_blank\"> fashion<\/a> loves.\u00a0 Even if you don&#8217;t listen to those bands or wear those styles any more, I bet you can remember how excited you were by them back in the day.<\/p>\n<p>I, however, have truly have never gotten over my <a href=\"http:\/\/wendybrandes.com\/blog\/2012\/05\/fashion-bloggers-in-neon-and-pastel-on-huffington-post\/\" target=\"_blank\">1980s passion for Day-Glo colors<\/a>. I have a pretty extensive collection of neon clothes. I think it all stems from this neon-pink Guess top, which was so special to me that I wore it for the first day of school in 1984. Click to shop.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/wendybrandes.com\/blog\/2008\/07\/meet-cherie-of-shrimpton-couture\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cherie of Shrimpton Couture<\/a> dates this amazing velvet piece to the 1990s, but it&#8217;s got such an &#8217;80s look. In addition to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thefreedictionary.com\/Day-Glo\" target=\"_blank\">Day-Glo<\/a>, which <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/wendy-brandes\/spring-fashion-neon-pastels_b_1368786.html\" target=\"_blank\">was popularized by designer Stephen Sprouse during that decade<\/a>, check out that ultra-short hemline! When we weren&#8217;t wearing <a href=\"http:\/\/wendybrandes.com\/blog\/2014\/01\/at-least-im-consistent-80s-influences-and-flower-feet\/\" target=\"_blank\">buttoned-up, boxy blouses and granny boots<\/a>, we were wearing mini minis! I don&#8217;t wear anything that short now, but I&#8217;m still drooling over this Ozbek. <a href=\"http:\/\/wendybrandes.com\/blog\/2014\/08\/jewel-of-the-month-literally-a-necklace\/\" target=\"_blank\">Literally<\/a> drooling. The obvious solution: I must borrow Stewie Griffin&#8217;s time machine and go back to high school with this dress in hand.<\/p>\n<p><center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/3YbRnZfGqiQ\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Speaking of Stephen Sprouse and his neon designs, I&#8217;ve posted several Sprouse pieces on this blog. (I didn&#8217;t own them originally, but bought them at vintage stores and on eBay in recent years.) The 1988 &#8220;Hardcore&#8221; skirt is my favorite. I haven&#8217;t missed<a href=\"http:\/\/wendybrandes.com\/blog\/2014\/08\/happy-birthday-madonna-2\/\" target=\"_blank\"> one of her tours<\/a>, ever, starting with the Radio City Music Hall concert I attended in 1985 in lieu of my high-school prom. I won&#8217;t miss her this year either &#8212; I already have tickets to the Madison Square Garden and Barclays shows that she&#8217;ll do as part of her <a href=\"http:\/\/www.madonna.com\/tour\" target=\"_blank\">Rebel Heart Tour in September<\/a>. Because the Garden show is on September 16 and Barclays is on September 19, I&#8217;m expecting Madonna to add to shows in between.
