I don&#8217;t hold pretty against you, necessarily, but your look has to be interesting too. <a href=\"http:\/\/wendybrandes.com\/blog\/2008\/03\/i-can-see-clearly-now-2\/\" target=\"_blank\">Controversial is a big plus<\/a>. If it is more of a costume than an outfit, a la Bjork&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Swan_dress\" target=\"_blank\">famous Oscar swan dress<\/a>, you get bonus points.<\/p>\n<p>Because the Grammys are a big event, it makes perfect sense to wear a bigger wig (<a href=\"http:\/\/wendybrandes.com\/blog\/2014\/01\/my-best-dressed-at-the-grammys-hat-loving-pharrell-williams\/\" target=\"_blank\">or hat<\/a>) than usual. That&#8217;s my new rule: Let the size of your wig always reflect the worldwide audience of the occasion. And, of course, Sia needed to bring along 12-year-old dancer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.justjaredjr.com\/2015\/02\/08\/maddie-ziegler-supports-sia-at-the-grammys-2015\/\" target=\"_blank\">Maddie Ziegler<\/a> &#8212; the bewigged Sia substitute in the videos for &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=2vjPBrBU-TM\" target=\"_blank\">Chandelier<\/a>&#8221; and &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=KWZGAExj-es\" target=\"_blank\">Elastic Heart<\/a>&#8221; &#8212; dressed to match, though Maddie has her face on display. Hmmm. I wonder if Maddie gets a wig with a view in part because she&#8217;s serving as a kind of guide dog to wig-blinded Sia?<\/p>\n<p>Now that I think of it, I also liked the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.justjared.com\/2014\/01\/26\/madonna-grammys-2014-red-carpet-with-son-david\/\" target=\"_blank\"> kid-as-matching-accessory<\/a> when Madonna did it with her son at <a href=\"http:\/\/wendybrandes.com\/blog\/2014\/01\/my-best-dressed-at-the-grammys-hat-loving-pharrell-williams\/\" target=\"_blank\">last year&#8217;s Grammys<\/a>. No, really! There&#8217;s her ass!<\/p>\n<p>In any other circumstances, Madonna would have won my award tonight. An <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/623130\/madonna-flaunts-insane-cleavage-in-givenchy-matador-outfit-at-the-2015-grammys-you-gotta-see-this-look\" target=\"_blank\">ass-flash<\/a> from a 56-year-old who has been making people angry for 30 years? Very impressive. But having a seeing-eye kid is more of a novelty, so Madonna must settle for runner-up this time. By the way, I like that Madonna is playing the matador now rather than the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Take_a_Bow_%28Madonna_song%29\" target=\"_blank\"> matador&#8217;s neglected lover<\/a> of 1994&#8217;s &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=XDeiovnCv1o\" target=\"_blank\">Take a Bow<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of winners, my gorgeous friend <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/kremkow\" target=\"_blank\">Cheryl Kremkow<\/a> wins for tweeting &#8220;Who wore it better?&#8221; about Sia&#8217;s wig and Rihanna&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/623251\/rihanna-takes-to-the-2015-grammys-red-carpet-in-enormous-tent-like-giambattista-valli-gown-take-a-look\" target=\"_blank\">puff-tastic Giambattista Valli gown<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_28576\" style=\"width: 508px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/kremkow\/status\/564594260880936960\/photo\/1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-28576\" class=\"wp-image-28576\" src=\"http:\/\/wendybrandes.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/whoworeit.png\" alt=\"whoworeit\" width=\"498\" height=\"385\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wendybrandes.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/whoworeit.png 599w, https:\/\/www.wendybrandes.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/whoworeit-300x232.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 498px) 100vw, 498px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-28576\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hard to choose!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>I noticed on the live feed that Rihanna was really <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cosmopolitan.com\/entertainment\/celebs\/news\/a36241\/rihanna-grammys-pink-cupcake-doll\/\" target=\"_blank\">wrestling with all that fluff in her seat<\/a>. Anyway, if the Knights of Ni from Monty Python ever demand a shrubbery of me, I think they&#8217;d be equally satisfied with the wig and the dress. <\/p>\n<p><center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/69iB-xy0u4A\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Therefore, Cheryl, I declare this a tie.<\/p>\n<p>UPDATED TO ADD: There&#8217;s a great aerial shot of Rihanna&#8217;s dress <a href=\"http:\/\/instagram.com\/p\/y3ZCgFRTNF\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>. To be honest, Sia and Madonna are lucky that I had to go by still photos and didn&#8217;t see Bad Gal RiRi walk the red carpet (I&#8217;m in Tucson, Ariz., with no E! and a CBS broadcast that started an hour late), because having <a href=\"https:\/\/vine.co\/v\/OUvmZjU0L31\" target=\"_blank\">seen this dress in action<\/a>, I would have given the big prize to Rihanna. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latintimes.com\/pulse\/grammy-awards-2015-rihanna-memes-bath-sponge-quinceanera-many-things-ri-ri-looked-294666\" target=\"_blank\">Rihanna&#8217;s strawberry-cupcake\/quincea\u00f1era dress is absolutely the one that&#8217;s going to be remembered &#8212; and remembered &#8212; for years to come<\/a>. And who else but Rihanna could have managed to look so beautiful and move with grace in this dress? I&#8217;d say Linda Evangelista during the height of her runway career and no one else. Fortunately for Sia and Madonna, once my award is given, it cannot be taken away! That wouldn&#8217;t be right. But in an alternative universe, Rihanna would have snagged top honors and <a href=\"https:\/\/vine.co\/v\/OUvaZeaBMlu\" target=\"_blank\">Prince<\/a> would have been the <a href=\"http:\/\/instagram.com\/p\/y3iStEIwZf\/\" target=\"_blank\">glamorous runner-up<\/a>.
