When it came out, critic Roger Ebert <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rogerebert.com\/reviews\/pulp-fiction-1994\" target=\"_blank\">gave it four stars<\/a> and called the screenplay (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=dkA3AoD-0oQ\" target=\"_blank\">which won an Oscar<\/a>) &#8220;so well-written.&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/hollywood\/2013\/03\/making-of-pulp-fiction-oral-history\" target=\"_blank\">More recently<\/a>, Vanity Fair summarized Mark Seal&#8217;s story on the making of <em>Pulp Fiction<\/em> this way:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;<em>Pulp Fiction<\/em> was a shot of adrenaline to Hollywood\u2019s heart, reviving John Travolta\u2019s career, making stars of Samuel L. And New York Magazine&#8217;s Vulture blog has a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vulture.com\/2014\/10\/steve-hibbert-gimp-pulp-fiction-interview.html?mid=twitter_vulture\" target=\"_blank\">lengthy interview <\/a>with Steve Hibbert, who played the masked sex slave known as the Gimp. I feel like a Gimp expert now. I&#8217;d rather think about blueberry pancakes, so here&#8217;s a great scene that doesn&#8217;t get as much love as some of the hilariously violent ones: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=WLESwFqDm9k\" target=\"_blank\">pancake-loving<\/a> Fabienne (Maria de Medeiros) talking to her boxer boyfriend Butch (Bruce Willis) about pot bellies and oral pleasure.<\/p>\n<p><center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nfN2SpUqfPM\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Now I&#8217;m thinking of all the other great <em>Pulp Fiction<\/em> moments I&#8217;d like to mention here. There are too many! If you haven&#8217;t seen <em>Pulp Fiction<\/em> (to my amazement, I&#8217;ve met people who haven&#8217;t!), do it: It&#8217;s a modern classic. If you&#8217;ve already seen it, watch it again! And again! This movie is like pie. To partially quote <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/character\/ch0001795\/quotes\" target=\"_blank\">Fabienne<\/a>, &#8221; Any time &#8230; is a good time for pie.&#8221;  <\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It was 20 years ago today that Pulp Fiction was given a wide release.
