Okay, here’s one more Golden Globes<\/a>-related post because I’m so pleased to see Vogue recognizing the single-earring trend <\/a>on the red carpet. Emma Watson<\/a>, Amber Heard and Ad\u00e8le Exarchopoulos of Blue Is the Warmest Color<\/em><\/a> were all representing.<\/p>\n

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know I was a huge fan of the single earring in the early ’80s. I wore a single beaded earring on my birthday in 1984 …<\/p>\n

I became nostalgic enough for the look in 2012<\/a> that I started adding single earring options to my WENDYB by Wendy Brandes diffusion line. I figured I would start my customers off small, with studs that could be mixed and matched. It might be a bit much to wear a single huge hoop to work, but studs? No problem. I gave the single studs a modern twist: The Twitter\/Instagram-worthy hashtag earring was one of my first and still one of my most popular.<\/p>\n

Now you can choose from among my 30-something options ($35 for a single silver earring without gems and $225 for 18K gold singles without gems<\/a>), including a large collection of emoji and emoji-inspired studs<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I’m totally devoted to the singles myself, of course, though instead of wearing one huge earring like I did in the ’80s, I often take advantage of my three lobe piercings and wear three singles. Last October, I converted an unworn pendant to a single earring that I wore next to a small hoop in my left ear, with a stud in my right ear.<\/p>\n

The three earrings below have been part of my dressed-down daytime look for quite a few weeks. I wear the two hoops in the left ear and the gold gun emoji stud<\/a> in the right.<\/p>\n

I’m going to start offering hoop earrings as singles too. The black-diamond ones above were a test run. They look great but they’re not exactly the look I want so I’m working on a new pair.
