During my holiday sale, gorgeous customer Erica purchased my 18K gold-and-diamond Juana crossbones necklace.<\/p>\n

She sent me two photos in an email with “The Loveliest Bones” in the subject line. It said:<\/p>\n

“Wanted to let you know that the crossbones necklace is perfection! I have been wearing it nonstop since I got it. The piece is understated but also completely luxurious. The yellow gold is rich and beautiful. I love it so much.<\/em><\/p>\n

Your inspiration for the necklace may have came from ‘La Loca’ Juana<\/a>, but\u00a0to me this piece represents my two getting-old dogs, Henry, 12, and Bubba, 9, (the bones), and my very precious husband (the diamonds). I am crazy for all of them, and I am crazy about the necklace. (How’s that for tying everything together?!)”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I felt a little choked up after reading this email! When people connect with jewelry, they really<\/em> connect with jewelry, and that’s a wonderful thing to see. I like that the necklace has its own special meaning for Erica. That’s as it should be. I’m inspired by particular subjects, but the pieces should be interpreted in a personal way by their new owners. (Separately, I too have a getting-old dog named Henry<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

Erica said I could use her photos on my blog even though she confessed that “the thought of my mug on the public interwebs makes me slightly uncomfortable.” She joked that I could put a black bar over her eyes. I figured I should come up with something a little more glamorous than that, so here’s a second photo of Erica wearing the crossbones necklace and a pair of Peggy Guggenheim<\/a>‘s sunglasses.<\/p>\n

The Juana crossbones necklace was the last of its kind, but I have two 18K gold locket necklaces and one 18K gold poison ring that all feature the bones on the outside and a skull inside.
