In 2011<\/a> and 2012<\/a>, I wrote about the attention paid to singer Kelly Clarkson’s weight. Even though some of that chatter was and is ostensibly positive — “She’s one of us! She’s a regular gal!” — I still think it sucks that she has to talk about weight at all.<\/p>\n

Last week, Clarkson announced that she’s pregnant<\/a>.\u00a0 In an interview with Parade<\/a> (apparently conducted before the pregnancy was revealed), she mentioned one of the reasons she was looking forward to pregnancy:<\/p>\n

“Everybody calls me fat all the time, so I can\u2019t wait to have a reason, instead of everybody just being a jerk!”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
