My pun-tastic<\/a> Virginia Woolf Whistle necklace was my Jewel of the Month in December 2009<\/a>. The pendant — which is a working whistle — required 1.4 ounces of gold and is adorned with 112 diamonds totaling 1.13 carats.<\/p>\n

The whistle pops open to reveal a tiny wolf (or “woolf,” in honor of Virginia) with diamond eyes.<\/p>\n

Between the amount of gold and diamonds used and the labor involved, this is one high-end item. So, while I was working on it, I made some Little Woolf necklaces sans<\/em> whistle and diamond eyes<\/a>, in case anyone wanted a more budget-conscious version of the concept.<\/p>\n

Gorgeous client Arlene Henriques recently received one of the last silver wolf necklaces from best friend Dylan. “He knew I wanted something you had created,” she told me.<\/p>\n

“I never even knew you made this necklace, you know,” Arlene wrote to me. She continued:<\/p>\n

“It was one of the ones that I hadn’t really noticed because it was inside the whistle. Dylan looked for something for me that he could afford and that would surprise me. He succeeded. I read everything I can get my hands on and Virgina Woolf was always a fan of strong and literate women. I thought it was a brilliant gift. It meant a lot to be given a gift of your jewelry that is so detailed, delicate and personal.”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It means a lot to me when customers like Arlene take the time to write such lovely notes to me. Plus she took such beautiful photos of her necklace.<\/p>\n
