There was a 21st-anniversary reunion of the Wayne’s World<\/em><\/a> cast last week. Reading about it, I realized that not only did the people involved in that movie have great taste in music<\/a> — they had great taste in jewelry too. Check out this picture of Lara Flynn Boyle wearing a “WAYNE” necklace that’s exactly the way I like name necklaces to be<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Each letter is hung separately and the letters are well-spaced so that the necklace is easily read. That’s key. It doesn’t look right if the letters are too close to each other. Also, see how the word follows the curve of the chain and her neck? I think that’s more flattering than a straight-across nameplate, particularly when you’re dealing with a short chain.<\/p>\n

I obviously knew I wasn’t inventing anything fresh when I started doing my separate-letter necklaces — my little contribution to the concept is my font and the social-media-inspired words\/acronyms I choose<\/a> — but this is the first time I’ve seen this specific example. Or at least it’s the first time I’ve noticed this example. When the movie came out, I was 13 years away from getting into the jewelry business, so I didn’t pay attention to such things. Anyway, for doing such a good name necklace, I need to say this to the costumers for Wayne’s World<\/em>.<\/p>\n
