I was excited to see today’s Women’s Wear Daily<\/a> story about the social-media-influenced fine-jewelry designs.<\/p>\n

While my signature Wendy Brandes line<\/a> is inspired by women’s history, my WENDYB by Wendy Brandes diffusion line<\/a> is all about pop culture, particularly the online world. My first design for the diffusion line was the four-ring swear ring set in sterling silver, which I introduced on a fashion-show runway in 2008<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In 2012, the fast-fashion world caught up to that design<\/a>! But I had already greatly expanded the diffusion line to reflect common Twitter and texting designs including OMG,<\/a> LOL <\/a>and emoticon hearts<\/a>. Back in July 2011, Elle.com seemed a little skeptical about my hashtag ring<\/a>, but as you can see from the WWD article, hashtags are now officially hot stuff.<\/p>\n

The least expensive item in the WWD story goes for $195, but I have some silver jewelry that’s more affordable (still great quality, as customers such as gorgeous blogger Megan Mae will attest<\/a>). For instance, my single stud earrings in sterling silver are $35 each<\/a>.\u00a0 I’ve got hashtags <\/a>and”at signs<\/a>,” as well as letters<\/a>, punctuation marks<\/a> and my mix-and-match “Heart You<\/a>” and “Screw You<\/a>” pairs for $70.<\/p>\n

All of the earrings are also available in 18K gold for those of you who are “all gold everything” like me and Trinidad James<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Another big jewelry trend is the first-knuckle or mid-finger ring<\/a>, and I’ve got the social-media-worthy versions of those. You can have any letter or symbol you want in 18K gold ($335<\/a>) or silver ($150). The asterisk is my biggest seller, but I’m happy to do hashtags, at signs, emoticon hearts … you name it!<\/p>\n

If you’ve got a little more to spend, my online-abbreviations necklaces are so funny and sex-ay.\u00a0 I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again … my IDGAF necklace in 18K gold is my go-to piece for everyday wear. Good thing, too, because it’s what gave me the courage to talk to Anna Wintour in a Conde Nast elevator last year<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On a budget? You can get the same necklace in sterling silver for $300<\/a>. On a spree? I’m doing the necklaces in diamonds too. Holla at me if you’re interested in that. Before I designed jewelry, I was always intrigued by — then disappointed by — necklaces that had multiple pendants or charms. I’d see a photo of one in a magazine or an ad that made it seem the charms were perfectly distributed, but when I would try on the piece in person, everything would bunch up. So when it came time for me to make a similar necklace of my own, I was adamant that the letters lie perfectly against the neck.
