Last year, I won the Rising Star Award for fine jewelry, and <a href=\"http:\/\/stacylomman.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">designer<\/a>\/<a href=\"http:\/\/taffetadarlings.blogspot.com\" target=\"_blank\">blogger<\/a>\/<a href=\"http:\/\/wendybrandes.com\/blog\/category\/wardrobe-therapy\/\" target=\"_blank\">stylist<\/a> Stacy Lomman was a finalist in the women&#8217;s apparel category.\u00a0(To give you an idea of how prestigious the apparel category is: A past Rising Star winner in the apparel category is now Michelle Obama&#8217;s designer of choice, Jason Wu.) Stacy designed the red peplum dress I wore last January. We have a lot in common, actually, because we all feel that great fine jewelry is about design and imagination. not just big, flashy gems in skimpy four-prong settings. I was rooting for the Torrubias, but this was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alexandramor.com\/flash\/index.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Alexandra Mor<\/a>&#8216;s year. Next year will be your year, Torrubia ladies! Margaret Hayes, the president of FGI, emphasizes that many designers win after being in the running two, three or even four times.
