The holidays I enjoy include gifts, fireworks and\/or costumes. Turkey, overeating and football are not on my list. Also, I don&#8217;t need a single Thursday in November dedicated to gratitude when I feel deeply thankful on a daily basis, resulting in my irritating overuse of &#8220;at least&#8221; in conversation. Don&#8217;t miss out. Remember, even if your jeans feel too tight tomorrow, at least your Wendy Brandes earrings will always fit just right!<\/p>\n<p>UPDATED TO ADD: One of my favorite &#8220;at least&#8221; moments of 2012 came from my father, <a href=\"http:\/\/wendybrandes.com\/blog\/2012\/06\/sans-fards-sorta-and-a-sally-hansen-manicure\/\" target=\"_blank\">who was able to find a benefit to my having an arthritic pinkie<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>UPDATED AGAIN TO ADD: How could I forget? There&#8217;s one thing I love about Thanksgiving: listening to all 18 1\/2 minutes of Arlo Guthrie&#8217;s 1967 monologue\/song, &#8220;Alice&#8217;s Restaurant.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><center><object width=\"420\" height=\"315\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/m57gzA2JCcM?version=3&amp;hl=en_US\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\"><\/param><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/m57gzA2JCcM?version=3&amp;hl=en_US\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/embed><\/object><\/center><\/p>\n<p>The real <a href=\"http:\/\/www.post-gazette.com\/stories\/ae\/uncategorized\/arlo-guthries-alice-is-alive-glad-to-be-here-460667\/\" target=\"_blank\">Alice Brock<\/a>, who served up the &#8220;Thanksgiving dinner that couldn&#8217;t be beat&#8221; in 1965, now sells her original artwork on her <a href=\"http:\/\/alicebrock.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">website<\/a>. In the 1980s, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.people.com\/people\/archive\/article\/0,,20092864,00.html\" target=\"_blank\">Brock wrote and illustrated a funny book called <em>How to Massage Your Cat<\/em><\/a>. However, I just found out that &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/William_Obanhein\" target=\"_blank\">Officer Obie<\/a>&#8221; &#8212; the cop who arrested Arlo Guthrie for littering and, by doing so, ultimately saved Arlo from the draft &#8212; played himself in the movie. Reportedly, &#8220;Obie&#8221; said he&#8217;d rather make himself look like a fool than have someone else do it for him.
