I meant to do so, but the one-of-a-kind necklace turned out to be too popular with editors and stylists for me to part with it. Now, with Halloween approaching, I figured I&#8217;d give y&#8217;all a chance to purchase it.<\/p>\n<p>The 3D sarcophagus is gold-plated and engraved on both sides. Like the sarcophagus, the mummy is finished on both sides &#8212; bandages are carved all the way around. I&#8217;m not one for taking the easy way out and decorating only the front of a piece!<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_17548\" style=\"width: 534px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17548\" class=\" wp-image-17548 \" title=\"mummy3\" src=\"http:\/\/wendybrandes.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/mummy3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"524\" height=\"393\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wendybrandes.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/mummy3.jpg 748w, https:\/\/www.wendybrandes.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/mummy3-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 524px) 100vw, 524px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-17548\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The mummy is attached to the sarcophagus by a chain so you don&#8217;t have to worry about losing him.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The original models for the sarcophagus and the mummy were carved out of hard wax, used in a jewelry-making process called <a href=\"http:\/\/wendybrandes.com\/blog\/2008\/06\/cleves-ring-work-in-progress\/\" target=\"_blank\">lost-wax casting<\/a>. In my opinion, that technique &#8212; though expensive and time-consuming &#8212; gives jewelry more personality than computer-based design does. All of my most elaborate pieces are made with lost-wax casting.
