I was on a secret mission outside Paris yesterday. I’m not ready to tell you the whole story, but here are some bits and pieces.<\/p>\n

We stayed at the most amazing inn in Corbie. It’s called Le Macassar<\/a> and we recommend it highly for the wonderfully hospitable proprietors, Miguel and Ian, and their stunning Art Deco decor. I enjoyed their two bouncy sheepdogs as well.<\/p>\n

I played tug-of-war with a pooch. He won.<\/p><\/div>\n

Ian and Miguel arranged for MrB and me to have dinner at Le Val d’Ancre in Bonnay, where Monsieur does the cooking while Madame takes care of the front of the house. Madame took a photo of us.<\/p>\n

After, Ian took us to Amiens to see the huge Gothic cathedral<\/a>. In the summers, at 10:30 PM, the cathedral is illuminated with colored lights to show how it would have been painted in the 1200s.<\/p>\n

In the morning, we took a boat ride through the canals of Amiens<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Then we took the train back to Paris, right on time for Bastille Day<\/a> celebrations. I’m about to put on my Francis<\/a> <\/a>dress and my personally designed Madame Royale <\/a>counter-revolutionary fleur-de-lis<\/a> necklace and head out for dinner and fireworks.
