My looooong<\/a>–awaited<\/a> post on wedge sneakers is finally live on the Huffington Post’s Stylelist site.<\/p>\n

I started working on this in May! But, as often happens when I hold on to a post for a long time, I got to add some good information to it. During the Spice Girls performance at the closing ceremonies of the Olympics on Sunday, I was fixated on the mirror-like silver wedge sneakers worn by Mel C (aka Sporty Spice). I have a passion<\/a> for silver<\/a> shoes<\/a>.<\/p>\n

When I searched the Interweb to find out who made the sneakers, I couldn’t find any information on them — only that Sporty’s white outfit had come from JD Sports. I sent an email to Mel C’s people through her website <\/a>and was told the sneakers were from Giuseppe Zanotti.<\/p>\n

As a bonus, I was told the catsuit Mel was wearing was tailor-made by Nafisa Tosh and had nothing to do with JD Sports at all. OH EM GEE! BREAKING FASHION NEWS! Mel’s spokesperson wrote, “I’m very glad you have made the effort to contact us and check information! Seems most of the press repeat errors from other publications.” Oops! I have certainly been guilty of that. Point taken.<\/p>\n

I had another amusing moment yesterday, during a phone interview with Siobhan Bonnouvrier, the fashion director of Allure magazine. I asked her if everyone could do the wedge sneaker trend, and she mused that maybe a woman in her 40s wouldn’t want to jump into it. I thought, “Yeah, of course, that makes sense,” before remembering that I’m a woman in her 40s with wedge sneakers.<\/p>\n

That happens to me whenever someone uses the phrase “woman in her 40s.” What can I say? I’m young at heart. And here’s what Coco Couture, whose photo is in the Huffington Post piece, had to say about wedge sneakers on her blog<\/a>:<\/p>\n

“At first I wondered if I was too old for such \u2018trendy\u2019 footwear that my Tween girl pronounced is\u00a0 \u2018for boys\u2019. But then I thought at 45, I\u2019m old enough to not give a damn!”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

That age-appropriate style ultimately depends on the individual would be the main point I’m trying to make here, as Seamus from Family Guy<\/em> might say.<\/p>\n
