Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are engaged<\/a>! I’ve never met Angelina or Brad — though I did once stand kind of near him when he was still married to Jennifer Aniston. Still, I’m all like, “Brangelina, Y U NO<\/a> call me to make your engagement ring? Is it because I made fun of Angie’s leg<\/a>? But everyone did!” Sadness. The couple went with a jeweler with whom they’ve worked before. (See People.com<\/a> for a photo of the ring.) That choice makes sense to me and I’m glad for him. But I did laugh a little at this breathless description of the design process<\/a>:<\/p>\n

“Brad had a specific vision for this ring, which he realized over a yearlong collaboration. He wanted every aspect of it to be perfect, so I was able to locate a diamond of the finest quality and cut it to an exact custom size and shape to suit Angelina’s hand. Brad was always heavily involved, overseeing every aspect of the creative design evolution. The side diamonds are specially cut to encircle her finger. Each diamond is of the highest gem quality.”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Of course, you have to tell a good story about the process, especially when everyone in the world is going to ask. I would say the same kind of thing; I’ve done long process posts on this blog. But no job is totally glamorous from the inside, so much of the description of the “creative design evolution” seems like a typical to-do list for a fine jeweler.
