This double-layer Minx manicure by celebrity manicurist Tracylee Percival (yes, I call her “celebrity manicurist” to her face<\/a>) is named “Leaf Me Alone.” It’s a transparent layer of Minx adorned with silver leaves applied over an opaque gold layer. In the photo above, I’m holding a glittery card at my gorgeous friend Tina’s gold-themed birthday party last Saturday<\/a>. The quote that I’m partially covering on the front of the card is from Jane Austen’s novel Emma<\/em>: “One cannot have too large a party.” The photographer blames the blurriness of the photo on her excessive consumption of Champagne. What can I say? It was a good party. Manicure photos weren’t a top priority.<\/p>\n

When I show this piece to people, I always point out that the back of the leaf pendant is just as detailed as the front.<\/p>\n

The oak leaf was made using the lost-wax casting<\/a> technique, so it’s very detailed, dimensional and tactile.\u00a0 It wasn’t stamped out of a piece of flat metal at a factory.<\/p>\n
