{"id":1169,"date":"2009-05-04T14:12:00","date_gmt":"2009-05-04T21:12:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wendybrandes.com\/blog\/?p=1169"},"modified":"2009-05-04T14:12:00","modified_gmt":"2009-05-04T21:12:00","slug":"designer-pissiness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wendybrandes.com\/blog\/2009\/05\/designer-pissiness\/","title":{"rendered":"Designer Pissiness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To me, the most interesting thing about tonight&#8217;s Costume Institute gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art is designer Azzedine Alaia&#8217;s pisstacular reaction to being left out of the &#8220;Model as Muse&#8221; exhibit: after fitting seven models for dresses, <a href=\"http:\/\/runway.blogs.nytimes.com\/2009\/05\/04\/alaia-pulls-his-dresses-from-the-met-gala\/\" target=\"_blank\">he asked the ladies not to wear them<\/a>. As a result, Alaia fans Naomi Campbell and <a href=\"http:\/\/runway.blogs.nytimes.com\/2009\/05\/04\/met-gala-stephanie-seymour-will-stay-home-too\/\" target=\"_blank\">Stephanie Seymour<\/a> aren&#8217;t attending the par-tay.<\/p>\n<p>Supposedly, models Christy Turlington and Linda Evangelista <a href=\"http:\/\/nymag.com\/daily\/fashion\/2009\/05\/karl_lagerfeld_christy_turling.html\" target=\"_blank\">aren&#8217;t attending either<\/a>.  What?! You can&#8217;t open an exhibit called &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2009\/04\/30\/fashion\/30model.html?_r=1\" target=\"_blank\">Model as Muse<\/a>&#8221; without my beloved LindaE there. Call the whole thing off! On the other hand,  maybe someone will need me to fill one of those empty seats. I&#8217;m a great seat-filler and I know exactly what dress to wear. Call me! Imagine the great photos I could take in honor of the Lady Who Doesn&#8217;t Lunch, <a href=\"http:\/\/ladywhodoesntlunch.blogspot.com\/2009\/05\/very-long-meme-just-for-you.html\" target=\"_blank\">whose post <\/a>made my day.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of the party &#8212; and pissiness &#8212; I&#8217;m increasingly annoyed by the use of &#8220;A-Dubs&#8221; as a nickname for the gala&#8217;s hostess with the mostest, Vogue editor Anna Wintour. Is that supposed to be cute? Hip? Funny? Clever? Maybe it was amusing the first time someone used the name, but repetition has not made my heart grow fonder. &#8220;A-Dubs&#8221; needs to be banned.<\/p>\n<p>UPDATED TO ADD SOMETHING COMPLETELY UNRELATED: Awesome feminist writer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2009\/05\/04\/arts\/04french.html?_r=1&amp;hpw\" target=\"_blank\">Marilyn French<\/a> died on Saturday.
