If you haven’t checked out gorgeous blogger Thumbelina Fashionista<\/a>, you must. Her personal style gets an A+ from me. You won’t see any of the shredded t-shirts, studded bracelets and DIY<\/a> Balmain jackets that have a kudzu<\/a>-like stranglehold on the fashion blogosphere. Thumbelina sticks to exquisite, high-quality pieces that are elegantly assembled even on casual days. Belts are a trademark accessory.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere in the blog world, 12-year-old Tavi<\/a> of Style Rookie<\/a> is the exception to the rule that children should be neither seen nor heard on the Internet. I said THE exception, so if you are the parent of a nine-year-old child, and you create a fashion blog for her, don’t be shocked … SHOCKED! … when your inbox explodes with furious emails. It’s futile for anyone else to try to be Tavi, just as it was futile for anyone to wear a navel-baring gown after Jennifer Lopez’s 2000 Grammy appearance<\/a> in her green Versace. Some things defy imitation.<\/p>\n

Tavi — who dresses creatively but age appropriately — was inspired to do a little painting by the runway look<\/a> for the Yves Saint Laurent Fall 2008 collection. One thing led to another<\/a> and voila! A Tavi t-shirt. Buy it on her blog. Maybe she’ll grow up to be the next YSL and you’ll be donating your treasured t-shirt to the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Or maybe she’ll grow up to be a firefighter. It’s up to her.<\/p>\n
