I’ve been irked at some fashion police criticism of Kate’s style for not being edgier. My Wear What You Want<\/a> policy does call for a sense of appropriateness. As I wrote in 2009:<\/p>\n

“Obviously, ‘Wear What You Want’ doesn\u2019t apply to every situation. You shouldn\u2019t wear a\u00a0boob belt dress <\/a>to a funeral. Nor should you wear a skin-tight, backless white halter dress to your first day of work as an intern at CNN.”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It’s perfectly appropriate for a princess-to-be to be well-groomed and wholesome-looking, and not a runway-obsessed fashionista. I keep wondering if the complainers are the same folks who whine that Lady Gaga doesn’t dress “normally.”<\/a> People are never satisfied!<\/p>\n
