I’m sometimes surprised by the jewelry designs that take off. When I originally designed my Siobhan perma-stacked stacking ring<\/a>, I didn’t envision it evolving into an engagement ring.<\/p>\n

But evolve it did! First, gorgeous blogger Susan of Une femme d’un certain age<\/a> asked me to redesign her original engagement ring, Siobhan style<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I never expected to get a second engagement ring request in this style, but then I heard from gorgeous new client Heather. I enjoy reusing stones, so I was delighted that Heather had a pair of unworn diamond stud earrings that she wanted to use for her side stones. I found her a center stone to match those. She picked the styles she wanted for the outside bands and I got to work. Heather’s engagement ring<\/a> is April’s Jewel of the Month<\/a>!<\/p>\n

As you can see from the above photo, Heather opted for my signature satin finish, but skipped the texture and blackening that I did for Susan’s ring. She also chose different outer bands than Susan. And, of course, Susan had six side stones while Heather has two. So even though they worked with the same concept, their rings are very different.<\/p>\n

This kind of ring is a challenge to fit because it’s wider than the finger-sizing bands that most jewelers use. There are wider versions of the finger-sizing bands but this ring is still wider than those. I know the original Siobhan ring should be ordered a half-size larger than the usual finger measurement. Heather’s ring wasn’t quite that wide so I was a little nervous, but I added a half size to it from the start. I can always adjust the size, of course, but I hate to disappoint the customer by teasing her with a ring that she can’t wear right away. I was happy that Heather’s ring fit perfectly.<\/p>\n

I told Heather that I had selected her ring for Jewel of the Month, and asked her if she would like to tell her love story in the post. Here is the highlarious story of Heather and her groom-to-be, Jeff:<\/p>\n

\n

Heather:<\/strong> So, several years ago, I was a brand new street hooker and<\/em>
\n Jeff was a wealthy businessman who liked to break apart companies and<\/em>
\n sell them as pieces —<\/em><\/p>\n

Jeff:<\/strong> That’s Pretty Woman<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Heather:<\/strong> Actually, we both love movies.<\/em><\/p>\n

Jeff: <\/strong> So we ended up meeting in a small after-work screenwriting class.<\/em><\/p>\n

Heather: <\/strong> I made him laugh a little, and he made me laugh a lot.<\/em>
\n Sometime after the class ended, he spotted me in line in the post<\/em>
\n office, so naturally, we had a lot of time to talk.<\/em><\/p>\n

Jeff: <\/strong> I’m pretty shy, plus I usually pick up my women at the DMV, but<\/em>
\n in the post office I blurted out, “Wanna get lunch?”<\/em><\/p>\n

Heather:<\/strong> Apparently, I did. \u00a0It was actually a pretty terrible lunch<\/em>
\n (although what do you expect from the post office), but the company<\/em>
\n was delightful.<\/em><\/p>\n

Jeff:<\/strong> ‘Twas. \u00a0Even though she was a “brand new” street hooker, I<\/em>
\n thought she was quite charming, and I knew then and there that I<\/em>
\n wanted to take her to watch polo with my mean friends.<\/em><\/p>\n

Heather: <\/strong> That’s Pretty Woman.<\/em><\/p>\n

Jeff: <\/strong> Whoops. \u00a0But we did go to Hawaii together in like our first<\/em>
\n month of dating. \u00a0Heather had previously scheduled the trip, and I<\/em>
\n don’t want to brag here, but…she totally thought I wasn’t a serial<\/em>
\n killer. \u00a0So she invited me along for the ride. \u00a0Normally I don’t<\/em>
\n suggest people go on big trips with someone they just started dating,<\/em>
\n but that rule is stupid when the person asking is super cute, super<\/em>
\n cool, and it’s Hawaii.<\/em><\/p>\n

So, we traveled some, and went to a lot of restaurants, and even more<\/em>
\n movies. \u00a0It all worked out beautifully, and I couldn’t have been<\/em>
\n happier when Heather agreed to get on my white horse.<\/em><\/p>\n

Heather:<\/strong> That sounds dirty. \u00a0Plus, that’s Pretty Woman again.<\/em><\/p>\n

Jeff: <\/strong> We really need to send that Netflix back.<\/em><\/p>\n

Heather: <\/strong>Along with our thank you to Wendy, since she made us the<\/em>
\n most awesome ring ever in the history of the world! \u00a0I asked her for a<\/em>
\n ring exactly like one she already made, except completely different \ud83d\ude42<\/em>
\n It was a lucky day I stumbled on her blog, and an even luckier day<\/em>
\n that she agreed to make a ring for us. \u00a0Thank you, WendyB!!!<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
