WWD is reporting<\/a> that eLuxury.com<\/a> is shutting down the retail part of the site over the next six months and will continue as an online magazine. Oh noes! I love that site.<\/p>\n

The spokeswoman at LVMH, which owns eLuxury, apparently took a hit off her bong and, while exhaling, claimed that the closure is “not based on the site’s financial performance, but rather because many of the brands it sells have developed their own online presences.”<\/p>\n

Seriously, she had to be high to make that statement. I don’t want to browse 50 different designers’ websites when I could just go to one site. And unless LVMH is hiring me (Arnault, call me!), what content is eLuxury going to offer that will be distinctive? There’s a lot of fashion-related content out there, produced by people who have a lot more experience with editorial than LVMH does. Or maybe, to distinguish itself, eLuxury will now serve as the exclusive distributor of nude photos of Marc Jacobs<\/a>. That would make it easier for me to avoid exposure to his nether parts because I’d know what site to avoid.<\/p>\n

I find it hard to believe that this change isn’t for financial reasons.<\/p>\n

In other news, Dlisted, the only celebrity site I like nowadays, has this awesome line<\/a> today: “I wish I could bottle her smugness and spray it on my face whenever I am not amused.” Why didn’t I write that? Damn. I like Dlisted<\/a> because the dude writes outrageous, funny shizz about celebrities, but also says outrageous, funny shizz about himself. The latter quality is what saves him from the gotten-so-old, jealous-outsider-looking-in tone of most celebrity blogs.<\/p>\n
