A Bit of Beauty for Istanbul

June 28, 2016 by WendyB

One of the jewelry designers I admire most is Sevan Biçakçi of Istanbul. In 2014, the New York Times described one of Sevan’s specialities as “dome-shaped rings that celebrate the city’s Byzantine and Ottoman heritage.”

Here’s an example chosen by jewelry editor Marion Fasel as a tribute to the people who have been affected by the attack on Istanbul’s airport today.

Ring by the one and only #Sevan of birds flying over the Bosphorus. ✨ My thoughts are with my friends in #Istanbul tonight. ? Taken @sevanbicakcijewellery studio in that ✨ magical city in 2009 #prayforistanbul

Just a little bit of beauty to counter all the ugliness.
