This chicken-in-egg pendant was inspired by an objet d'art in the queen's collection at Rosenborg Castle in Denmark. The "hen-in-an-egg" theme was traditional one for Easter gifts. Faberge made the theme famous, but the Danish egg is thought to have been made in Paris. This necklace consists of a gold egg that opens to reveal a silver hen. The hen opens to reveal three tiny golden eggs.
Perfecting the design for this piece took nearly a year, and only one will ever be made at a time, making this a very limited edition piece. See Customer Service for information on caring for mechanical pieces such as lockets.
