Earlier this year, I wrote about Jennifer Hudson’s much-criticized 2007 Oscar outfit, which featured a cropped metallic bolero. I loved it, of course.
It was unexpected and fabulous.
I do believe it left me with a lasting love for offbeat, cropped jackets.
I thought of Hudson’s look the moment I saw this 2013 Burberry capelet on 1stdibs.com
Jennifer felt bad when people talked trash about her outfit at the time, but what else from that event is memorable eight years later? I had to look up what the “best dressed” actresses wore that year and I was like, “Oh … yeah.” Some beautiful things, to be sure, but nothing that I had a vivid mental image of after all this time. Nothing at all that makes me say, “I’d wear that!” like the Burberry capelet does. You know … my birthday is coming up. If one of you has $2,200 burning a hole in your pocket, please don’t hesitate to shop for me on 1stdibs.com.* The best presents are never practical, after all!
*Nah. Shop for Wendy Brandes jewelry for yourself instead. You deserve it!
I agree; everybody should buy your jewelry for themselves! I’m a much happier person wearing the pieces I bought.
Who says you can’t buy happiness? 😉
your combo is way more successful than jennifer’s. love it!
