My right-hand woman Eryn asked me to do a holiday wish list for the company Instagram. It’s gloomy in New York today, so I figured I’d share the wish list here for anyone else who could use a virtual vacation to a more pleasant climate. My wish list was inspired by Gwen Stefani’s 2005 video, which I recently came across while at the gym flipping between music channels.
Here’s my list.
First, I’ll obviously need a ticket to (1) Cernobbio, in Italy’s Lake Como district, where the video was filmed.
In the video, “young” Gwen wears a cute red dress with white polka dots. This one by (2) Dolce & Gabbana is longer than hers, but still sexy.
I was thinking about what I would wear around my gorgeous Italian villa on days when I didn’t have company coming over and I decided I’d be casual in this vintage (3) Junya Watanabe long denim skirt. It would also make up for the fact that years ago, I had an amazing floor-length denim skirt WITH A TRAIN and I didn’t have the nerve to wear it, so I cut it short. Tragic!
Because the skirt is so long, I’d want something skimpy on top to balance it out. I used to wear Hanes short-sleeved men’s undershirts all the time in college, so I figure I’d go old-school with (4) Hanes tanks.
Those tanks are pretty sheer, so I’d want to wear something underneath that’s meant to be seen. (5) Trina Turk bikinis usually fit me well.
Big hoop earrings would work with my D&G dress and my casual outfit — and probably everything else I’d have with me — so I’d wear my work-in-progress: (6) barbed-wire hoop earrings in 18K gold. I already finished (and sold) the silver sample. The gold version will be ready in January. Something to look forward to!
By the way, it’s not too late to get me any of these things, though I’d rather have the ticket to Italy than the Hanes tanks!
