This Is as Naked as I’ve Ever Been on This Blog

September 6, 2012 by WendyB

The blogosphere is amazing. In yesterday’s post, I joked that my next career should be “paper doll.” That career is now underway thanks to the gorgeous and artistic Megan Mae of Megan Mae Daily.

Megan’s self-portrait.

Here is the WendyB doll that Megan drew for me.

WendyB paper doll by Megan. Click to enlarge.

As you can see, Megan nailed my cross-legged pose. The doll is wearing my standard red lipstick, “B” Boleyn necklace, and my go-to patent-leather platform pumps. (Those undies she gave me better be Spanx!) The outfits are all based on life. From left to right they are:

  • Prada dress and wedges (2011).
  • Damien Hirst t-shirt (2012), Sanctuary shorts (2010) and Ash wedge sneakers (2012).
  • Red peplum dress by Stacy Lomman (2012) and Prada purse (2010).
  • My near-daily outfit of black t-shirt and jeans.

Now all I have to do is blow this up to life size and the doll can do all my outfit posts. It will be like the Family Guy episode when Stewie cloned himself, but without the gory ending. If you see me at an event and I’m not very chatty, check to see whether I’m made of paper before getting annoyed with me.

That is so freakin’ awesome – Megan is so talented! I adore her.

She really nailed your looks perfectly! I think you should print these out and give them out as party favours for your birthday this year, Wendy.

I love the WendyB paper doll collection! Very useful to teach young girls how to dress too. You could influence a whole generation of young women!

I absolutely wanted to, but the original was done in pen/ink and my gold pen is MIA. I originally had her Cleopatra earrings in the sketch, but the scan darkened so much they disappeared. It’s hard to see but she does have her Hathor ring on her hand (carnelian side up). Jewelry details are a little difficult to include in fairly small drawings.

Megan is so talented, and the paper doll is perfect. I keep the picture she did of us with Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock as my desktop screens. She made me look way better’n I usually do, and definitely drew in Spanx 😛
