What Wendy Wore: Casual in Castelbajac

June 27, 2012 by WendyB

I love to take boat rides when I’m traveling. Maybe I’m a sailor at heart. I certainly dress the part on occasion, thanks to designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac.

My Castelbajac sailor outfit in 2010. Click for original post.

Wearing my sailor-printed Castelbajac vest while out and about with Stacy Lomman. Click for original post.

While too many viewings of Titanic have scared me off ocean crossings, I never get tired of the Bateaux Mouches in Paris. During a visit to the City of Light at the start of this month, MrB and I risked being trampled by some very large and aggressive tour groups in order to cruise the Seine again. (Beware of the smallest ladies in any tour group; they’re vicious!) The experience wouldn’t be complete without an official on-board tourist photo.

What Wendy Wore
T-shirt: Splendid
Shawl: Zang Toi (I’ll have to ask Zang what year I got this)
Arm warmers: Stacy Lomman
Jeans: Citizens of Humanity (2011)
Shoes: Castelbajac (2009 and going strong)
Purse: Sonia Rykiel (2009)

Of course, the real star of this picture is the lanky photobomber behind us. He’s not doing anything highlarious, but his height and sneakers made me think of basketball player Chris Bosh videobombing LeBron James and that IS highlarious.

The existence of that clip consoles me somewhat for the loss of a couple of old highlarious videos: Kathy Griffin’s “Knock the dicks out of your mouth” moment on CNN and Jennifer Lopez’s “Defend your outfit” response, both of which are no longer on YouTube. I loved to watch those when I needed cheering up. Why does YouTube want me to be sad? Rude!

Anyway, while we were in Paris, MrB and I went to the Castelbajac store, where MrB picked out a pair of nautical-themed wedge shoes for me.

Side view of the shoes.

Anchors aweigh!

When I got home, I had celebrity manicurist Tracylee Percival give me a Minx pedicure to match.

Toes by Tracylee.

I also got a Castelbajac top that has a seaworthy feel thanks to epaulets and stripes. The peplum was the main selling point though. I wore it when I got back to New York for a bloggers’ night out.

What Wendy Wore
Top: Castelbajac (2012)
Jeans: Citizens of Humanity (2011)
Shoes: Jil Sander (2008 — damn!)

Here’s the whole crowd after our dinner at a restaurant I won’t name due to the obnoxious maitre d’.

From left: Midtown Chap, Midtown Girl, Poochie of Shoe Daydreams, Mr. Poochie, me and designer/blogger Stacy Lomman.

I had my annual visit with London bloggers this month too. Stay tuned for those photos.

Wait, so since I’m usually the most petite in any crowd, I’m vicious? Okay you got me sussed, maybe on a good day I’m vicious. I’m not into nautical, but those shoes! Ooh lala!

Hi Wendy, Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving such kind comments re my poppies and peonies 🙂 Ironically, the anti-spam word is ‘peony’! How incredible is that?!

Your sailor’s outfit is simply adorable!! Those shoes are amazing, as is your pedicure.

Oh those shoes! Totally fab, and the pedi is a perfect match.

I also really love your peplum blouse. The bits of yellow on the sleeves really add something special to it.
