Wendy Brandes Jewelry in ELLE Taiwan

April 12, 2012 by WendyB

A big thank you goes out to the accessory editors at ELLE Taiwan for featuring my Marie Antoinette ring and Gloriana necklace in the March 2012 issue.

I even got a little blurb mentioning my Fashion Group International Rising Star Award. If anyone can translate the rest of it for me, I’d be most appreciative!

    Congrats!

My Chinese is pretty rudimentary (it’s been about a decade since I was in Chinese school), so take this with a grain of salt. I THINK it says something like:

Wendy Brandes – One to Watch

New York-based, former CNN and Wall Street journalist Wendy Brandes, who got her start in jewelry design in 2001 by designing her own wedding ring, just received the 2012 FGI Rising Star award for jewelry design earlier this year. She specializes in intricate mechanical pieces that open and close, change shape and even make noise, all of which are made in New York. [I don’t know enough to translate the next two sentences literally. The first sentence talks about your lively designs made from 18K gold, sometimes featuring animal motifs. Also says your designs have a bit of a mid-century feel and you are influenced by vintage designs and strong women in history. Then it goes on to talk about how you’re a blogger and you cover trends for the Huffington Post.] An FGI Rising Star award is not a guarantee of success, but looking at previous winners like Tory Burch and Joseph Altuzarra, it won’t be long before it’s impossible not to recognize her name!
