What Wendy Wore: “Vintage” Moschino and Manolo

November 16, 2011 by WendyB

For dinner with friends on Friday, I wore homegrown vintage. I don’t think I’ve ever taken a photo of this skirt until now. Most of the clothing in this picture predates the blog, which I started in 2007. The dates below are my best guesses as to when I purchased everything.

What Wendy Wore
Sweater: MAG (2005/2006)
Skirt: Moschino (2005/2006)
Over-the-Knee Boots: Manolo Blahnik (previous guess: 2003)
Watch: Hermes (2000-ish)
Purse: Sonia Rykiel (2009)
Jewelry: All my own designs

The newest item in this photo is not the purse, but my watch band. When I got the watch’s battery changed this summer, I considered replacing the original band, which was looking pretty tattered. Then I became convinced there was a lot more wear left in it. Well, there was only a little wear left in it, because it broke this month. It conveniently did so in Las Vegas, where there was only a five-minute walk to the store to get a new one. My wrist feels all fancy now. What’s not fancy is that wall in back of me in this picture. That bitch needs some Botox.

I love that skirt. Maybe it is time to give someone else a chance with it. I bet you would run an amazing online “garage” sale.

You are a great inspiration for buying what you love + keeping it forever. I think the only thing I have from the early 00s are my Docs.

I love the whole outfit, especially the skirt. It would be cool if you had an online garage sale of things you no longer want but it seems like you get such great stuff it lasts forever.

Loving that the red lip and bright shirt together, yay for quality pieces you keep around until they age like a fine wine. (Maybe I need a drink, because that’s the first thing that pops to mind when thinking of vintage lately…)
