Cake or Death? I’ll Have the Chicken

June 27, 2010 by WendyB

Last month, when I was celebrating the appearance of my Cleopatra earrings in Sex and the City 2, gorgeous blogger Stacy of taffetadarlings gave me this congratulatory cake from Two Little Red Hens.

The cake was gone within 24 hours, but comedian Eddie Izzard’s “Cake or death?” routine has been stuck in my head ever since. It’s like having a song on mental repeat, but funnier. The sketch is especially highlarious when animated with Legos. Enjoy!

You should also check out the Lego version of Eddie Izzard’s routine about Darth Vader trying to order pasta in the Death Star canteen. My favorite line is about the wet trays: “Did you dry these in a rainforest?”

I just checked out the cake site and note that the place is in Yorkville. I only just learned that NY had a Yorkville – it’s a major neighbourhood in TO. Now I’ve seen it twice in 2 days!

Also, do tell what flavour cake and filling and icing you got. Is there buttercream inside? Could there be more buttercream on that cake?! Maybe custard? Is it chocolate.

    I’m hungry.

I know puppets make anything funny–’cause Jane Lane said so–but Legos work, too. ^^

I’d love to see John Cleese as the Inspector in this sketch, and the rest of the Pythons as those being questioned.

Ha! I love Eddie Izzard & I miss “The Riches” ): Funny to hear that routine again, and see it with Lego’s! Not big on eating cake, but I sure like to look at the pretty ones, as this one was! I still think its fab that you got those stunners in the film, and that I got to feel so special and wear a pair and be part of your big night! (My next purchase, I thinkie!) I wish loads more of opportunities like this (and even better) for you!

Eddie Izzard is a comic genius. You are a jewlery genius 🙂 You’re going to have more pieces in more films and then we can have more cake… or chicken!

WRT my blog post, showing the red lipstick on the blog would require posting my face, which would in turn sacrifice my anonymity.

Don’t worry about not getting it, the heat has slowed down my brain processes too 😉 xxxx

I put my status as “Cake or Death” and a bunch of people were like “Cake! Ooh I love cake!” but no one got it was Eddie Izzard. So I was sad.
BUT then I came here and it was all better 😀 Haha! The skit is stuck in my head too!

I’ve always thought of cake as merely a vehicle for frosting. This one certainly delivers!
