Giving Thanks

November 27, 2008 by WendyB

In honor of Thanksgiving, gorgeous blogger Miss Janey asked me to tell my readers what things I’m grateful for. I could be really sincere and mention family, friends, health, a roof over my head, food to eat, and so on. But then I would have to slap myself for being annoying and obvious. So here are other things that I’m grateful for, and they all begin with G for gratitude.

1. In the winter, the NYC sidewalk garbage isn’t as pungent as it is in the summer.

2. Gil Grissom, who makes me believe all bad people will be captured, at least if they pass through Vegas.

3. Green apples, which are so much better than red.

4. Gorgeous bloggers, who keep me busy with tags like this one, keeping me off the streets and preventing me from becoming a rebel without a cause.

“What’re you rebelling against, WendyB?”
“Whaddya got?”
(Thanks to ENC for the photo illustration)

UPDATED TO ADD: I’m also grateful to gifted blogger Dlisted for mentioning my favorite part of the Thanksgiving meal: cranberry sauce from the can! Not only that, but he mentioned it in the same breath as Cool Whip, reminding me to walk around saying “Cool Hwip” all day.

There seems to be a lot more garbage in the summer for some reason. I’m thankful for (as well as everything you mentioned above) the fact that my school has no dress code!

Hi there-a great list-are the green apples better tasting, or better for you scientifically, I’m intrigued!!

#1 made me smirk because I remembered how shocked I was to see New Yorkers leave their trash on the curb the first time I was in NYC. I was even more shocked this last time to discover that the subways are also a garbage transit system.

I totally agree with number two (I <3 Gill ) and I agree with four even more.

But I have to totally disagree with three. Braeburns *red and green* all the way!

Green apples ARE so much better than red…they have a bit of tartness to them that I LOVE!

My dad always used to transpose the “h” and the “w” in words like “white,” and “wheel,” and “whip,” rendering them “Hwite,” “Hweel, and your personal favorite, “Hwip.”

Thanks for letting us know what you’re grateful for.

I think you left one thing off the list, though, and I bet it’s because it starts with a “T”—you’re probably grateful you didn’t have to eat Tofurky!

Granny Smith apples all the way.

Cool Whip skeeves me out – it has the some of the same ingredients as lube and hemorrhoid cream – http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/15.05/st_coolwhip.html

    Gross!
