Current/Elliott Rolled-Up Jeans

August 5, 2008 by WendyB

For the brave, fashion-forward souls who like the look of rolled-up jeans, I have another suggestion, in addition to the Acne Jeans that I pointed out last month. These sex-ay Current/Elliott boyfriend jeans are available at Singer 22 for $229.

Want more choices? People Magazine identifies Katie Holmes’ jeans as Prps. Amanda Peet has Earnest Sewn and Rachel Bilson wears Paige Premium Denim.

For those of you who are still saying “never” to this style — bookmark this post. You’ll need it six months from now when you give in. Never is the next new thing!

Oh I’m not sure if I’ll give in to this one. I have the stumpiest legs and I just don’t think that pants like this will be doing me any favours…

Gee, I like that look a lot! I’m not saying that my 60-year-old-self would be able to pull it off, but I certainly enjoy dreaming! And I like knowing what’s what and what’s not. Thanks, WendyB.

I’m so glad you’re enjoying the Red Bull Flugtag series–thanks for your visit and comments.

The model is gorgeous in the pic, but I’m not so sure if this trend would ever work in common people… like me

I never say never any more – I’ve learnt that I will defy my own stumpiness to try out any ridiculous style that comes along at least once!

I’m lovin’ this jeans look and am worried that I’m only the one!

And that’s a big fat no.

I’m not even on board with skinny jeans yet. I like them on others, but the thought of having to squeeze into them frightens me

I will pass on this trend. I am hoping that this doesn’t mean pleated front acid washed jeans are the next denim trend.

Heh! I’ve been ahead of this trend. I have a pair of white jeans that have shrunk with scores of washings and are now too short, so last year I started rolling them up to pretend it’s on purpose. Now maybe those “eccentric aunt” looks I get will morph into admiring, “well isn’t she stylish, didn’t I see her on The Sartorialist?” looks. 😉

I only say “not now” b/c of the temperature and my lack of an appropriate pair of pants!

I stand by skinny jeans….they are the only thing that looks right on my body………
    NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I all for the roll-up, but are these jeans coming pre-rolled or do I risk rolling them improperly myself?

  14. Danielle says

    August 6, 2008 at 8:58 am

this is going to be just like the skinny jean. everyone is going to say no then everyone will be saying yes with a complete disregard for body type. this cuffed pant is going to do for cankles what skinny jeans did for the muffin top. . . oh no.

I lmao when you said book mark this for 6 months cause at that point I was thinking the same thought..hahaha, oh well might as well just give in now!

    Cuffing, yes.

    Pegging, no.

Skinny jeans – I wish but haven’t found the right pair. Still dreaming though!

Wendy B, you are right! When I first saw this look, I cringed . . . but now, with runway, editorial and street style evidence at my disposal, I may have to hop on board the baggy cuffed train . . .
But this does not mean that I will abandon my skinnies!!

MIss J is not opposed to this look. She just wonders how tall and skinny you need to be to get away with this.

I saw a girl dressed like that just this morning. Ok, maybe not just like that – she was clad in a dark green v-neck short-sleeve T, Converse, and the “boyfriend” style rolled-up jeans.

I’ll definitely do it, but I’m going to see if I can get away with wearing Mr.OM’s jeans instead of buying some. I can’t fit my thighs into my existing skinny jeans anyway.

I resisted skinny jeans and neon, and in the end I caved in. So…lesson learned. I’ll keep an open mind and won’t rule out the possibility right away.

if i do give in and sport this style, i think i will do so with a pair of levi’s — the way i did it back in the day! oh, and they’ll be faded and with a tear in the knee and i will also wear converse high-tops and a belted rock t-shirt with the sleeves rolled up…

Been doing this all summer – early adopter! (read: poser). But I wonder, why does one need specific jeans with which to do this?

  39. LaCouturier says

    August 7, 2008 at 12:15 pm

i think i'll pass on that trend, just because i'm shorter and afraid that rolling jeans like that would make me look stumpy. that model in the picture pulls off the look pretty well! katie holmes, however, in my opinion, does not.

oh how very true your post is.

i was saying HELL NO last week when the Katie Holmes’ jean hysteria was starting.

now, a week later, i’m trying to figure out if i have some fatty jeans that i can wear loose and rolled up.

ugh. i’m such a fashion follower.
